Christmas Bird Count Set
The San Marcos Christmas Bird Count, now in its 8th year, will be held on Sunday, December 17. If you are new to what a Christmas Bird Count is, it is a fantastic opportunity to participate in a nationwide (and international) citizen-science bird census, where birders and nature enthusiasts go out and count birds in their area on a specific day, giving a snapshot in time as to how bird populations are doing (in a nutshell).
Participation is for anyone and everyone, regardless of skill level. All you need is enthusiasm and willingness to be outside for a bit. Section leaders will be guiding teams and assisting with bird ID, so you will not be alone.
If you’re interested in participating this year, please send an email to Rebekka Rylander, and she will put you on the list. You can also reach out to her if you would like more information.
