Crockett Family at Prospect
Coach Dylan Jones (a frequent runner at the Greenbelt) organized a school hike at Prospect Natural Area on May 15th. What a great turnout! Principal Keith Cunningham, students, teachers, parents, and SMGA enjoyed a spectacular 3-mile hike on Limbo, Rhipheus, and Virgil. The students kept themselves entertained by looking for interesting bugs and rocks, appreciating the abundant variety of flowers and grasses, or avoiding “lava” on the trails (rock hopping), a perfect way to unwind after a week of school and work!
Mr. Jones applied for and won a $50,000 grant in 2018 from Texas Parks and Wildlife. The San Marcos Greenbelt Alliance is excited to partner and support Dylan and SMCISD in activities and events that get our students into the Natural Areas.
