The SMGA Trail Crew was joined on March 7 by a crew from the Central Texas Trail Tamers (CTTT) to tackle a challenging portion of construction work on a new section of Dante.
With the completion of the Styx trail at Upper Purgatory came the need to replace that portion of Dante trail that was displaced by the construction. A section of this trail required the construction of rock retaining walls and the transport of significant quantities of fill material to allow it to be sustainable for hikers and mountain bikers.
The Trail Tamers, much like the SMGA Trail Crew, are volunteers who simply enjoy the work, service, nature, and the chance to be “on trail.” This is not the first time these two teams have worked jointly and we all hope it is not the last. Much fun was had and even more work was accomplished. A great big thank you is due to Trail Tamers.
