My Getaway: A Conversation with Dr. Paul Wilson
Dr. Paul Wilson—Professor of Philosophy at Texas State University, musician and former guitarist with The Association, host of the Philosophy and Popular Music show on radio station KZSM—speaks about the importance of living in an environment surrounded by nature. He has experienced firsthand the hassles of big cities and finds himself always coming back to our green oasis.
How long have you lived in the area?
I have lived in San Marcos for years. I have seen this town transform into a vibrant green jewel, a civic duty-oriented community full of artists of all kinds.
What is your favorite trail?
I am very fond of a memory in Purgatory Creek. A friend and I had a very nice walk there. It is also right by my house.
Natural areas are important for flood mitigation, personal relaxation, meditation, and so on. What is their importance to you?
It is important to live in an environment surrounded by nature. I travel often to hectic cities to help out family but the feel in San Marcos has me coming back.
Do you have any final thoughts?
I really appreciate the reminder that this interview brings me on the green spaces that are around this beautiful place I live in because we can get caught up in day-to-day stuff and forget to take a breather.
