Protecting Golden-Cheeked Warbler Nesting Sites

The City of San Marcos received funding from the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service and Texas Parks and Wildlife to purchase some of the natural areas we enjoy. One stipulation was that the Golden Cheeked Warbler, an endangered species, would be protected during mating season.

Trails closed March 1- May 31 include the following: Purgatory Creek (Paraiso only) and in Spring Lake (Porcupine, Grey Fox, Roadrunner and Blind Salamander).

Please respect these closures so we can continue to grow the natural areas. Articles about the GCW appear in past issues of the LOOP.
